Over the last few years I have moved towards a more simplistic representation of the arbutus trees. Stripping them of bark, berries and leaves and moving them towards monochromatic versions has allowed for interpretations that speak both of trees or veins and arteries within our bodies. I like the fact that the exterior echoes the interior world and that there is a sharing of design in both. That way the trees become more then trees, they speak of symbolism. The background reflects this too as it presents a flowing, organic field for the trees.
