I have been exploring arbutus trees over a period of time and I find the imaginative portrayal of the trees are much more gratifying. Trees communicate to each other through their roots, building communities amoung themselves. I have seen these West Coast trees as unique portrayals of the struggle for light but I also see them now as individuals that exist with others.
Oil on canvas.
