I am always intrigued by flight, both in the air, such as the pigeon and the human, and in water, hence the whale. The arbutus trees serve to connect to my theme plus locate the objects in an environment of flight even though only one of the three is associated with flying in the air.
Flight relates to my own life in that my father took a photo of me doing a swan dive at Banook Lake in Nova Scotia and it was also the place where I raised a pigeon I found in an old building down the street. I loved the water and often dove, like the whale, seeing how long I could stay under before breaking the surface for air.
